Web 2.0 And Multimedia Copywriting Seminar

Michel Fortin speakingI want to tell you about a few upcoming events that might interest you, one of which I am personally putting on with another top copywriter. (Plus, I need your feedback and possibly your help.)

First off, a little backstory.

After my recent report, The Death of The Salesletter, and other reports like "The Death of Internet Marketing" by Mike Filsaime and "The Rebirth of Internet Marketing" by John Reese, I received quite a few requests.

Specifically, and since we talked about increasing popularization of Web 2.0, audio, and video (and multimedia in general), and how they are growing in the online sales experience, people have asked me over and over again:

"Michel, how do you write copy for audio and video?"

Well, you’re in for a treat…

On the weekend of November 10th, 2007, I will be co-hosting a very special intensive seminar in Los Angeles, possibly at the LAX Hilton.

Tentatively called the "Maximum Money-Making Multimedia Mastery" seminar, it will deal specifically with writing copy for multimedia and on the web, including online audio, video, podcasts, Internet radio, blogs, social sites, and of course, Web 2.0.

I’m not only a co-host but also a speaker, along with one of the best audio copywriters in the world today (who’s written million-dollar radio ads, among others), Dan O’Day.

Dan has a vast well of experience and knowledge in writing successful copy for the radio industry. He probably knows more about writing for audio than anyone else in the world.

Other speakers we plan on inviting include Brian Clark of CopyBlogger (copywriting for blogs), Jim Edwards (webinar strategies), Mike Stewart (podcasts and video tools), Armand Morin (product creation with multimedia), and perhaps more.

I’ll keep you up to date once we get these confirmed. If you have a suggestion for a speaker you would like to see, particularly when it comes to copywriting for multimedia, please comment below.

In the meantime, we need your help.

We need some samples to work with, particularly to conduct reviews and use them as case studies for the seminar. (And you’ll benefit from the free critique!)

So my question is, do you have audio and video somewhere you would like to submit for review? If you use online audio or video in any form — e.g., welcome message, tour, podcast, audio or video blog (i.e., vlog), sales pitch, product description, offer, etc — please feel free to reply to this posting in the comments section below with the URL to your audio or video.

You’ll enjoy some immediate new traffic, and we’ll add your site to our list of those we plan to check out as part of our research — to make sure we don’t miss anything great that we don’t know about as well as to hear good things that can be improved upon.

On the topic of seminars, I’m just about ready to leave for Philadelphia to speak at Ken McArthur’s JVAlertLive.com. This is not your standard Internet marketing seminar. It’s particularly focused on the power of creating and profiting from joint ventures.

It’s a seminar that’s well-suited for those new to the Internet marketing game, or those looking at expanding their online income.

Plus, the format of this seminar is a little different than most. The pinnacle of this event is its "hotseat sessions," where we critique actual businesses and answer real challenges from attendees. (Ken prefers to call it the "idea factory," and once you come you’ll soon realize why!)

You would be amazed at the people that are in this group. Speakers are not just well-known, top-shelf marketers. Some of them don’t seek the limelight much but quietly make thousands of dollars online, under the radar.

For more details, check out the website. (And yes, I will be talking about video, Web 2.0, and copywriting for new media, as well.)

On a similar note, you might remember this: last month, I did a very special teleseminar with billion-dollar copywriter, Clayton Makepeace, specifically about blogging and making money with Web 2.0.

It was called "Blogging for Dollars" for Clayton’s EasyWriters Club members. We talked about the power of blogging, how to make money blogging, and how to use blogs as a powerful, proactive sales and marketing tool — or even as a business itself.

Well, so many people raved about it, they clamored for a follow-up session. (I’m not kidding. Clayton forwarded me a few of the emails he received, and people were screaming for another session!)

And so, back by popular demand, here it is: the 2nd part of "Blogging for Dollars" will happen this week, on Thursday at 12:00 noon.

Again, this is for Clayton’s EasyWriters Club’s members. But just like last time, Clayton is allowing my members, clients, and subscribers — yes, that’s you! — to attend the teleseminar at no charge whatsoever.

Plus, you can even give his copywriting club a try for just $4.95 (that’s only a fraction of what Clayton’s current members are paying).

Did you miss our first call together? No worries. We are including the 1st session, in MP3 format, for free after the signup — and that’s whether you sign up to attend the event for free, or if you indulge in the $4.95 EasyWriters Club trial membership. But places are limited, as there are only so many lines. (And this one is sure to be packed!)

So, click here to signup or to learn more.

    Hi Michel,

    Hi Michel,

We have an online flash based presentation about our product which incorporates audio and some video. Just to put you in the right frame of mind, the majority of people who reach our site did a search or clicked on an ad about lowering blood pressure.

    You can see it at:
    http://www.resperate.com/discover/closer_look_demo_1.aspx

This is currently the second most visited page after the homepage.

    I’d love a critique.

    Thanks

    Hi Michel

Here is my first podcast attempt that I did with a local singer/songwriter

    christianbowman.com/2007/05/07/my-first-ever-podcast-yay-fea…

The tools that I used were podpress for wordpress which is a free plugin. It also streamlines the process to submit to popular podcast sites. It also allows you to edit your profile for submission to itunes so that you can expand your audience there.

    Thanks again

    Hi Michael

I’ve been following your posts and your Death of Salesletter intrigues me so much. Since the product that I’m selling is about Web 2.0 (automatic video uploader to multiple sites), it is important that I use as much interactivity as possible.

Although John Reese suggested to put the video beneath the headline, I didn’t because I was thinking that hard proof is more powerful than a demo video.

You can see the embedded video just before the price is revealed “How Much Does Video Post Robot Cost?”

I’ve started selling the product to a small list, sending them with 3 emails prior the salespage. The first was a simple page with screenshot of proof, the 2nd was a demo of the basic features and the 3rd was a demo of the advanced features of the product. Conversion is 16% but it was on lower price point and unoptimized copy with no bonuses.

I got a friend to rewrite the copy, and I include more proof plus a hard fact from a research site (compete.com). I will be adding 5-6 bonus videos (the salespage may not show this yet as I’m still preparing it).

What I will do next is to embed the first section of each video (5 mins each) to let them see what they will be getting as bonuses.

I am getting content from another marketer (6 hours of interview audio with video experts) and I plan to put audio snippets as well. This will only be ready in 1-2 months.

Another plan is to put radio checkbox (as per your suggestion) that dynamically change the content further down but I haven’t decide what to ask.

One idea that I want to pursue is maybe adding a simple calculator (Ajax) asking them how many video they upload a month, how much it takes to fill up form on each video site. Then use the calculation result to dynamically insert it into the copy.

On launch week, I may put a chat box where prospects can interact live with me :)

The product is not yet for sale (probably next week).

I have played around with video infomercials enough to know that its not easy to make one that makes people take action…especially when you are promoting a $4000 product as I am.

This one is hosted on Ifilm.com, which has some good qualities for hosting videos for imbedding in your website… I find YouTube and Google Video a little unreliable for imbedded video because they get such heavy usage sometimes video delivery will be choppy.

    ifilm.com/myifilm/zerodollarmarketer/video/2812250?sublistin…

I worked on the script a lot… but at some point I just went with a relatively clean reading, inserted the effects (it was all done on Visual Communicator Pro), and uploaded it to about 20 video-sharing sites.

    Hello Michel;
    What a great idea!
Here’s a flash video I made a while back with Camtasia Studio. It’s a product demonstration for a tool that I made for my own use that I decided to sell as well. The product is a text PreProcessor for Artemis Pro. This video doubles as a very detailed pre-sales demo as well as a training video on how to use the product.
Here’s the link: http://marketing.pqArticle.com. Click the screen capture of the product to view the video.

I am an affiliate for a popular basketball shooting dvd. Through my research, I’ve found that most of the other affiliates just have a small write-up and a link to order the dvd.

To differentiate my site, I’ve done a few additional things, including an intro audio clip near the top of my page and a video demonstration of the possible results of using the shooting drills on the dvd. The video is raw - no spoken words or flashy pictures, just pure demonstration.

    Michel:
I’m out here in Calgary. I’ve been a video producer, director, writer and editor for 30 years, so access to the technology isn’t an issue. I was a commercial producer before getting into corporate.

I have a video-based online course on presentation skills - structuring, writing, and visually supporting your presentation. It features a well-known Canadian actor and I’m just starting to get serious about “getting it out there.”

I have a video promo coming (that I didn’t get finished this weekend) and in the meantime, I have two modules on the course online connected to my sales letter at:
    http://www.presenter-pro.com/online_workshop.php

I have other courses and video promos on my site at:

My challenge has been to decipher who my audience is and develop a promo that will not “over sell.”

We’re planning on doing lots more online video-based training so I’d very much appreciate any input from you or the community.
