As the Hol­i­day sea­son is slowly com­ing upon us, I reflect on how blessed I was this year. It was noth­ing short of a roller-​​coaster ride — from reach­ing the high­est of the highs, to sink­ing to the low­est of the lows.

But this year, I was incred­i­bly blessed. For one, I learned so many lessons. Some were harsh. Very harsh. But in the end, these pow­er­ful lessons all gave me so much to be thank­ful for.

Yes, it was also a tumul­tuous year to say the least, includ­ing a sep­a­ra­tion and divorce, and the pass­ing away of sev­eral great friends and peo­ple I looked up to (such as Corey Rudl, Peter Drucker, Richard Pryor, among many others).

Words are pow­er­ful. They are the crux of our exis­tence as copy­writ­ers. And your choice of words is cru­cial in get­ting the results you seek, whether you’re a copy­writer or not, and be it in busi­ness or in your per­sonal life.

To com­pel oth­ers to do what you want them to do, words do the job. So it goes with­out say­ing that you need to choose your words. And you need to choose them care­fully. Because words are more pow­er­ful than you think.

Last month, I’ve risen from the ashes.

You see, in the past year, I’ve been through highs and lows. I’ve dealt with the best copy I’ve ever writ­ten — while deal­ing with (and fir­ing) a whole bunch of vam­pire clients. I’ve quit solic­it­ing for copy­writ­ing work and seen a remark­able improve­ment in my health and well-​​being — while deal­ing with my sister’s wors­en­ing health caused by liver can­cer, dia­betes and lupus.

And the coup de grace:

I’ve gone through a bit­ter sep­a­ra­tion and a painful divorce (which is still under­way) — while start­ing to date the most won­der­ful woman in the world. She is unques­tion­ably, undoubt­edly, indu­bitably, irrefutably my Soul Mate. My best friend. My pil­lar. My Angel sent from above. My One and Only.

And last month, I made it offi­cial “live” on stage.
