I’ve been quiet lately for a number of reasons. First, I’m battling a really bad case of bronchitis. It hit me so hard that I’ve lost my voice and been bed-ridden for the last week or so.

In fact, I not only had to cancel numerous teleseminars and conference calls this week, but I was also in Atlanta to speak at a seminar yet stayed in my room most of the time to sleep. I only went down to the seminar room when I had to speak, and even then I was “heavily medicated”. (I hope I didn’t slur too much!)

Nevertheless, here’s another reason.

A few things to note today:

1. I love WordPress so much, that I decided to convert my band’s website into a blog. (I’m not done yet. More websites to follow!) You see, it’s not really to use as a blog but as a content delivery system.

Why? Because the results (such as search engine rankings, the stampede of instant traffic using blog software, and particularly WordPress’s many plugins) are absolutely astonishing.

After many months of virtual arm-twisting by my friends Armand Morin, Sherman Hu, Denis de Bernardy and others, I decided to finally dump Movable Type and go completely WordPress. Woohoo!

I love WordPress. But not just for its incredibly usable features, but also because Sylvie (my fiancée) and I have been running a battery of tests in the background with WP and the various plugins it offers.

I have a challenge, and I wonder if you have the anwswer — or can simply direct me to where I can find it.

As many of you know, I have a membership site at The Copy Doctor, and use another software as a CMS (which is less than desirable).

The folks that support the CMS are great guys and all, but I’ve have so many problems with them — they’re slow, and their empty promises are starting to get the best of me… and my paid members, to say the least.

Search engines change all the time and many of them now charge for the privilege of including your website. So, people often ask me how to generate traffic, beyond the search engines and with little to no cost.

Let me be candid by saying that I am not a search engine expert, nor do I play one on TV. But there are two methods that I’ve used consistently to attract thousands of qualified hits to my website at virtually no cost and with very little effort.

Granted, everyone’s different. And these techniques may not be appropriate for all people. However, let me share what works for me and what I do.

The two biggest traffic builders I use are: 1) posting on message boards, forums, blogs and discussion lists; and 2) writing, syndicating, publishing and submitting articles to ezine publishers — including my own (such as my blog, my newsletter or my website’s archives).
