Surgery, Christmas, And a Top-Shelf Newsletter

magazine Surgery, Christmas, And a Top Shelf NewsletterI want to give you a quick update on things. You may have noticed I haven’t blogged anything new in a while. But there’s a reason.

Before I explain, check out this free newsletter. It’s high quality, with top-shelf content, and it’s 100% free. I’m proud of it, because I was a part of its inception, and my wife and I are in the premiere issue.

I believe it’s going to be the gold standard in the Internet marketing newsletter industry. When so many newsletters out there are paid for and marketer-specific, this newsletter covers a wide range of marketing topics, strategies, and experts.

And the topics are not overly generalized, theoretical or philosophical stuff. There’s going to be tons of strategy-specific ways to maximize your marketing and your moneymaking efforts. A great way to start 2009!

Note that there will be an offer on the resulting thank-you page for a different product. But you’re not held hostage, and the newsletter will still arrive in your email inbox, even if you refuse. It’s not mandatory at all. Sign up and instantly get your first issue.

Now, speaking of my wife, here’s the reason why I’ve been out of the loop…

As some of you know — if you follow me on Twitter — my beautiful wife, Sylvie Fortin, had surgery yesterday. She had an ovariectomy to block the production of estrogen, which in turn prevents her breast cancer from making an unexpected comeback.

Following her chemo, she was on hormone therapy for a while, which does the same thing. But she has to constantly deal with hot flashes and discomfort — and pain! — associated with the medication and the hormonal roller-coaster ride.

This surgery will not only control her estrogen on a permanent level, but also it will, in large part, eliminate most of these side effects, too.

She’s back home recovering nicely. Thank goodness.

Since she will be out of it for a few more days (and we expected this), we decided on celebrating Christmas last weekend. We had the entire family over, and I had one of the best French-Canadian staples of the holiday season… We call it, “Tourtière!”

(That’s meat pie, by the way.)

She woke up this morning (in between prescribed morphine hits every four hours), and she was strong enough to cook herself a meal — she was hungry as couldn’t eat anything 24 hours prior to her surgery.

Not only that, but she was also strong enough to get on her computer and check her email!

(Our friends chuckled when they heard this. They said, “Now that’s a hardcore Internet marketer, when you can’t wait to check your email after a major surgery, LOL!”)

All this to say, I might be taking a bit more time off to take care of her over the holidays. So if you don’t hear from me until then, I want to take this opportunity to wish you a very happy Christmas, and a joyous holiday season.

And please, don’t forget to check out this free newsletter. Go there now and signup. The first issue has several insightful articles, including an article from Sylvie and me about the power of multi-dimensional keyword research — you’re going to love it!

  • Hi Michel, I hope your wife has a speedy recovery and I hope you and your family have a wonderful holiday.

I had a brother that passed away due to cancer this year and it was a very sad year for me. I wish they could find a cure for it.

    Take care,

    Joyeux Noel, Michel et Sylvie!

I'm very happy to hear that Sylvie is recovering. I do wish her a speedy and complete recuperation, and best wishes for good health.

  • Michael,

Hope Slyvie has a speedy recovery. I would like to suggest that she remove all soy from her diet. I developed a severe allergy to soy and my research shows that soy doesn't just cause a hormonal imbalance, it may even enhance the growth of tumors, including other health problems. Soy is found in over 60% of the food on the grocery store shelves...you have to know what to look for on the labels because it's disguised.
Check out my book, The Hidden Dangers of Soy.
    Happy Holidays!

  • Nice to hear things went well Sylvie.
Another reason to celebrate the Holidays.
  • I wish all the best for you and Sylvia. Hope she makes a speedy recovery. Merry Christmas, y'all!
  • Been following the updates on Twitter, and wish Sylvie a full and speedy recovery.

    Have a great holiday guys!
  • Michel,

Wow - I'm not sure how I missed this news before: I was completely unaware that Sylvie was scheduled for an ovariectomy. Sounds like it's all for the best (who needs those darn things anyway! ;-)) and that it will result in much relief for her, not to mention further prevention of any of that nasty "C" stuff coming back. GREAT -- I'm all for that!

I'm happy to hear that she's already far along on the recovery trail. Knowing Sylvie, she'll be back recording Camtasia tutorials for Success Chef by next week. (HEY, by the way, I met a guy here in Indy who was on Ross Goldberg's seminar last week and bought your package -- I confirmed for him that he made the best buy of all and that Sylvie's market research tutorial is the best I've seen. He's stoked!)

Wonderful that you guys got a little family Christmas time in before the surgery. Here's hoping you continue to enjoy the holiday season!

I love you guys! / J'adore les Fortins! (is it "le" or "les" in that case?)
    XOXO
    ~Julie

P.S. Tell Sylvie I won't be sending her any laugh-inducing get-well goodies this year, but only because I don't want her bursting any stitches open. When she's all healed, on the other hand... ;-)
    Happy holidays!
  • Hi Michel and Sylvie,

Wishing you guys best of health and wealth for the holidays and in 2009!

Figures she's checking email - looking for more "sins" perhaps? :)

sorry I won't be seeing you two on the marketer's cruise next month, but we'll hoist a few for you - maybe next year!

    Sincerely,
    Howard

Bon courage dans ces moments difficiles. Tout s'arrange, il semble. Tant mieux. Bonnes fêtes de fin d'année.
  • Glad that Sylvie is doing okay and can later on enjoy the holidays. It's the season to be jolly! :)
  • Hey Michel,

Tell Sylvie she's in our prayers, but your entire family will be as well.

I Hope you guys have a fantastic holiday and that this new coming year brings you all smooth sailing in every area of your lives.

I'll talk to you again soon,

    Michael & Erica Lawver
  • wish her well from me.

Happy Holidays to you and yours.
  • Best wishes to Sylvie on a speedy recovery. Let me know if there's anything I can do to help until you're back again. If not, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. :0
  • Michael,
My wife has to go through the same thing in a month or so, just got done with radiation this week. Chemo's not done yet, so the surgery isn't scheduled.

May God bless you & Sylvie and have a very Merry Christmas!
  • Rebecca
Wishing you a very Merry Christmas and speed in healing.

I was in Quebec in September and enjoyed a different Canadian tradition...caribou at the Sugar Shack. All four of the kids (oh so talented)! Montmorency Falls, the artisans of Charlevoix--what a lovely country. Can't wait
  • Wishing you a speedy recovery, Sylvie. Wishing you all the best in the coming year too.

You are in my thoughts and prayers. Hang in there!

  • Hi Michel,

I used to post here a fair bit some time ago but the pressures of getting everything done saw me drift away.

I saw your email and thought I should come over and see what had happened. I knew that Sylvie had been suffering health issues for some time. It is always a worry when somebody you love very deeply is in this sort of trouble.

I hope Sylvie is well and truly on the mend now - sounds like she is. I mean... if she is now getting out of bed to check her emails! Wow. As your friends said that is pretty hardcore - LOL!

Anyway, I wish Sylvie a speedy recovery. And I hope you both have a GREAT Christmas. Over here in Oz it is very hot. Unlike you guys, there is ZERO chance of Santa snow here.

    Best Wishes

    Gary Simpson

PS Michel, I signed up for the IMN - did all the opt-in stuff correctly (I think) and I got a message that the link was broken. Dunno if it was just me or others are also having trouble. Anyway, just thought I'd give you the heads up on that. Maybe it is worth checking.
  • @Gary Simpson - Keep an eye out for http://BreastCancerVictory.com my wife is typing a post right now, as we speak, about her surgery and the results. (It's great news!)

About IMN, it may have been a temporary glitch. I got mine without a problem. Try subscribing again? If it still doesn't work, let support [at] generatorsoftware.com know.

I trust Sylvie will recover from her surgery quickly, she has been on my prayer list since her last surgery.

  • Hi Michel,

Just got back to my office and noticed that the pdf said "This file is damaged and will not open." I will try again after typing my reply to you. I actually jammed my computer up (sorry to say that here) and I had to shut everything down and re-boot.

It may be my computer coz I have just had a super-duper anti virus suite installed and I think it hates ME! Anyway, it is always excellent news when surgery goes as planned.

All the best to you both for Christmas and keep up the good work. I always have my eye on your name and what you are up to (LOL) even though I haven't posted here for a long time.

    Regards

    Gary Simpson from Oz.
  • Dear Michel

I found it so reassuring reading your blog posts. My lovely wife, Ruth (married for 42 years) had a hysterectomy five weeks ago and was then diagnosed with ovarian cancer.

She had her first chemotherapy treatment last week, and is suffering from the side effects. We are both finding this a rather scary time, so it is reassuring to read how your wife, Sylvie, is coping with everything.

My best wishes to you both.

    Kind Regards

I'm glad to hear that Sylvie is doing well! I am by no means an expert in the area that I'm about to make a comment on. My mother is an advocate of trying to solve health issues through the use of natural foods. One of the things that she has found in her reading is that soy can increase the production of estrogen in men and women. So, I would like to offer the suggestion of checking the foods that you eat to see how much soy is being consumed. You will be amazed how much it is used these days... and under how many names. Just a thought. Do with it as you wish.
  • Check out my wife's latest post about her surgery updates (she included a parody of a Christmas Carol as it relates to menopause!) on her blog...

  • Best wishes to Sylvie for a speedy recovery Michel.

By the way - I don't know how it works for Canadians & Americans - but over here in the UK a "top shelf" magazine is the kind of magazine they put out of reach of children in shops. You know, the kind that's usually sealed, with "interesting" content.

I hope you don't get the wrong sort of subscribers looking for "top shelf content"!!

    Best Regards

    Ian
  • Nice plugin there Fortin :)
  • Hi Michel and Sylvie,

The title of your email made me immediately think of you, Michel, and here it was Sylvie. Glad to hear you're on the mend, Sylvie. I had a similar situation two years ago. Can't keep a good woman down for long. ( :

    Stay well.

    Blessings,

    Ann
