One Tiny Change Boosted Sales By 44%

One Tiny Change Boosted Sales By 44%

John ReeseHere’s an interesting tidbit.

I already knew that using the “who else” headline increases response. Simply by adding “who else” to a headline that starts with a verb can literally boost your response by 10–30%. I’ve tested this extensively.

For example, if you have “discover 17 tricks that can double your traffic overnight,” you can change it to, “who else wants to discover 17 tricks that…” This small change almost always increases sales.

But here’s the interesting tidbit…

John Reese and I were instant messenging each other the other night, and John told me about a little trick he used to boost his sales on his AuctionSecrets.com site.

Many people have tried it with much success. So I did. I tried it on my website. The result? A whopping 44% increase in my conversion rate.

Here’s how it’s done. By combining an audio button to the “who else” headline (or a headline in which a question is asked, but preferably the “who else” one), it qualifies the headline by telling the reader, “if you answered ‘yes’ to the above question, click here for an important audio message.”

I’m now trying this on one of my clients’ site, which is not live yet. This time, I’m testing video and not just audio. I’ll let you know of the results as soon as the tests come in.

UPDATE: If you’re interested in learning more about these kinds of split-test results as well as discover how to boost your response by watching me, “live at work,” recorded on over 50 hours of video, then I recommend my private website, The Copy Doctor.

Quick question: if that's the case, will you use this in ALL your subsequent works?

If not, to what extent will you do so?

Looking forward to reading your thoughts!
  • Thanks Ali!

David, not all the time. Whenever I do use the "who else" else headline, I will try as much as I can to follow that. Again, I haven't tested it enough yet with other types (video, for example). So we'll see.

    Best,
    Michel
