Internet Marketer Hit By Car

Julie PerryI couldn’t talk about this when I first learned about it, but now that it’s public I wanted to pass the info along.

You may or may not know Julie Perry.

She’s a very dear friend of mine, a well-known Internet marketer, and an entrepreneur. We constantly see each other at seminars and always have a great time. She’s always laughing, fun to be with, and a great person.

If you can’t picture her, to help you here’s a photo of the both of us — you might have seen her at Internet marketing seminars, yourself:

Julie Perry

She’s known for her love of boats. She’s written a book on yachting, and she’s also the host of TheBoaters.tv, a website for yachters and boat lovers.

Now, the sad news…

Apparently, Julie has been hit by an (assumingly drunk) driver on New Year’s Eve and is in pretty bad condition. (I say “assumingly” because it was a hit-and-run, and it was New Year’s Eve.)

This beautiful, bubbly girl and a friend were taking a rickshaw over one of the bridges in Fort Lauderdale (a small, two-wheel wagon pulled by someone on foot), when the driver hit them, fled the scene, and threw her from it hard.

My wife Sylvie and I were in shock when we first learned about this. (We still are!)

She has a broken clavicle and her shoulder is pretty sore. She may have a broken hip bone, too, although I’m not sure. And I don’t know how serious the shoulder injury is.

Part of her face has no movement for the time being, which makes it harder to talk. She’s still bleeding from one ear, too.

She’s a little groggy and doesn’t remember anything from the accident. She looks good considering everything, but is still in a lot of pain.

They expect her to take about four weeks to recover. But she says she’ll do it in three! (Knowing Julie, I believe her.)

She’s in good spirits, happy to be alive.

A mutual friend, Heather Seitz, went to see Julie today and she’s doing much better. It looks like she will be going home early next week and will probably start some physical therapy tomorrow.

Fortunately, she won’t need any surgeries. Her friend, however, will need to have knee surgery.

A news reporter came to the hospital to interview her, and they did a short video on her to ask for the public’s help and try and catch the person.

(They thought they had, but it turned out to be another accident nearby.)

Here’s the video and news report. (Warning: she’s in rough shape.)

Luckily, she’s well enough to answer her phone. If you want to get in touch with her directly, you can by checking out her Facebook profile.

A personal note to Julie…

Sweetie, Sylvie and I are thinking about you. Please get well soon, OK? We miss you. I expect to see you at the next seminar. We’ll be waiting for you.

  • Wow, Michel - thanks for the heads up. This is so tragic. I didn't know Julie before now, but have sent her a special note. Whew, we never know how precious life truly is until a wake up call like this comes along. I hope Julie makes a full and speedy recovery.
  • Hi Michel,
I tried to write this note to Julie but somehow the Security panel at Facebook is not allowing access. Would appreciate if you could pass this on to her with a wish for her speedy recovery.
    Thanks n regards,
    vivien

    Hi Julie,

You don't know me as I am a grandma from faraway but read about your plight at Michel Fortin's site and he said you could be contacted thru Facebook but my message was blocked by the spam security panel so this message may be coming to you through courtesy of Michel who is a familiar name in my marketing folder.

I am a sharer with a few goals like writing a book for my grandkids' grandkids and the internet has become a great place to start.

To help with your recovery, I do have a free seat at Russell Brunson's 12MM Workshop where you will be able to meet up with all the other marketing gurus, so please email me to let me know you would be up to it as it will not be on until Feb.21 at Salt Lake City.

I have started to offer this to some of the people I know in the US since I do not live there and as Feb. is a celebration month in our country I would not be able to find the time to attend the workshop.

This is just a simple offer and if you are keen you may bring a friend along, but I need to know soon please as Russell is asking for confirmation on whether I want the places or he will put them up for sale.

If no one contacts me about the seats then I am hoping that some guru like Michel will pick up this message and help me to sell the tickets at an affordable price and the proceeds to go to support the Katrina effort or some other charity as I am sure Russell would not mind, as he is only wants to be sure that the seats are not wasted.

Anyways, hope you are by now well on your way to recovery and that we can be friends whether or not you decide to go for the workshop.

With best regards and God Bless,

  • Wow, thanks Michel for putting this out there. I suspected something was going on when I saw her profile on Facebook, but didn't realize it was so serious. Appreciate you keeping us informed. I'll send her a message & she'll be in our thoughts and prayers for a full & quick recovery.

  • Nothing to worry about mate and i am sure she will recover from this accident much quicker as all our prayers are with her. Internet marketing is definitely at a loss when such an expert is unable to continue her work.
  • My wishes for a speedy and complete recovery.

  • Hey Michel,

Just got off the phone with Julie and she wants to thank you for your post and concern.

Julie really wanted to reply to you herself, but she can't type right now.

She's recovering nicely though and is scheduled to have a check up tomorrow.

Appreciate your well wishes and I'm sure she would love to get a call from you when you get the chance :)

    Take care pal.

    Thanks, Si
